World Press Freedom Day, observed annually on May 3, highlights the vital role a free and independent press plays in strengthening democracy, promoting transparency, and ensuring justice.
To celebrate this day, J&K MyGov invites all citizens to participate in an Essay Writing Competition on the theme "Freedom of Press: The Backbone of Democracy."
Share your insights on how press freedom empowers democratic societies and safeguards citizens' rights.

"Freedom of Press: The Backbone of Democracy"
Who Can Participate: Open to all citizens.
How to Participate:
• Write an original essay in English or Hindi or Urdu.
• Word limit: 500 to 1000 words in PDF file
• Submit your entry through the J&K MyGov platform (upload in .doc/.docx/.pdf format).
• Mention your full name, age, and contact information at the beginning of the document.
Technical Parameters:
• The essay must be original and unpublished.
• Plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.
• The essay should be logically structured with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion.

• Contest Launch: May 06, 2025
• Last Date for Submission: May 18, 2025

General Terms and Conditions:
• J&K MyGov holds rights to use submitted entries for promotional purposes with due credit.
• Organizers may publish submissions for promotion without guaranteeing an award.
• Some images may be cropped for publishing purposes.
• Winners’ names and works may be showcased across exhibitions, websites, and social media.
• In cases where credit display is impractical (e.g., posters, tickets), it may be omitted.
• Non-compliant entries will be disqualified without prior notice.
• Awards may be revoked if post-submission violations are found.
• All interpretations of the guidelines will be as per the laws of the UT of J&K.
