The Government of Jammu and Kashmir invites students to participate in an Online Essay / Article Writing Contest under the national campaign “Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat: From Awareness to Action.” The contest aims to encourage young minds to critically engage with the issue of child marriage, highlight its social, legal, and developmental implications, and propose actionable solutions for its elimination. Through informed writing and grassroots perspectives, participants are encouraged to contribute ideas that promote the empowerment of girls and foster a child-marriage-free society.

20 January 2026 to 19 February 2026
Theme:
“Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat: From Awareness to Action”
Objective:
To capture informed perspectives, community-level insights, and practical recommendations for preventing child marriage and advancing the rights, education, and empowerment of girls.
Eligibility
• College and university students.
Submission Guidelines
1. Entries must be original works that have not been previously published or submitted in any other competition.
2. Essays/articles may be written in English, Hindi, or Urdu.
3. The word limit shall be 800 to 1200 words.
4. Submissions must be uploaded online in PDF or Word format through the designated portal.
5. Each participant may submit only one entry.
Evaluation Criteria
• Relevance to the theme and campaign objectives
• Originality and clarity of thought
• Practical suggestions, solutions, or case-based insights
• Coherence, language quality, and structure
Portal Fields Required
• Name
• Age
• Gender
• District and UT/State
• Category (Student / Citizen / Official, etc.)
• Declaration of originality (mandatory checkbox)
General Conditions
1. Entries containing plagiarized content or violating any law shall be liable for disqualification.
2. Content that is defamatory, promotes unlawful activities, or violates intellectual property rights will not be accepted.
3. Commercial or promotional content is strictly prohibited.
4. Participants shall be solely responsible for any legal issues arising from their submissions.
Terms and Conditions
1. The Information Technology Department reserves the right to publish selected entries, with due credit, on its official websites and social media platforms for awareness and outreach purposes.
2. Publication of an entry does not automatically guarantee an award.
3. The names of winners and titles of winning entries may be displayed on official platforms and campaign-related materials.
4. Entries not conforming to the guidelines may be rejected without prior notice.
5. These guidelines shall be governed and interpreted in accordance with the laws applicable in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
Rewards
• Top three entries will be awarded e-certificates.
